Update on What's in a Name? Bounder the Kangaroo

 In my September 18, 2007 column, I posted an article, speculating that Bounder the kangaroo, an Australia exclusive, was named after Michael Jordan, a retired professional basketball player. I received an email from Ty Australia soon thereafter, informing me of the real origin of the beanie's name and birthday. Bean Watcher comment: Thank you for setting us straight!

Further Delay on Harrods' Launch Date

 John from England (aka the phoenix), a member of Beanie UK, shares that Harrods still has not decided upon a date for the launch of its exclusive Ty Beanie Babies. John shares the following update from Harrods:
Further to our recent emails we still haven't had confirmation of the Harrods Ty Beanie launch date. It is a major decision, not to be taken lightly as it is such an important event for us. Rest assured as soon as we have a confirmed date we will let you know. Unfortunately we won’t know anything until at least Monday 1st October.
So, it's still a matter of wait and see...!
Announcing the October 2007 Introductions

 Today, Ty announces the October 2007 introductions. There are 59 new styles in seven different product lines. Many have a Christmas theme. Here they are: Bean Watcher comment: Ty added the final three Boblins characters (Onny, Pinny, and Bodkin) later in the day to this month's introductions. Decision to Launch Harrods Exclusive Ty Bears Delayed

John from England (aka the phoenix) and Wayne from Wales both share the news that Harrods has delayed making a decision on the launch date of its Harrods exclusive Ty bears. A decision will be made tomorrow (September 28, 2007). Here is an email that John shares with us:
Although we were hoping to have a decision today regarding the date, this has been delayed until tomorrow. Please accept my sincere apologies and rest assured that I will contact you again as soon as I have any further information.
When I receive an update on the official launch date, I will certainly share it with you.
Update on Launch of Harrods Exclusive Ty Bears

Wayne from Wales and John from England (aka the phoenix) from Beanie UK both share the news that Harrods will be making a decision today (Thursday, September 27, 2007) on the launch of its exclusive Ty bears.
Thank you for your concerns with regard to the change in date of this year's exclusive Harrods Ty launch.
The reason the launch was moved to 10th November is because the Christmas Grotto, which launches on 3rd November, has been relocated next door to the Ty area. For security reasons we cannot have such a large volume of people in one small area so we were asked to move the date to the following week. However, following many comments from our valued Beanie customers and requests to go back to the original date, we are reviewing the situation and hope to have a final decision on Thursday 27th September. Once we have a confirmed date, we will let you know. Ty UK will also be informed so that their invitations can be sent out.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this situation has caused. We look forward to welcoming you to the Toy Kingdom - we have something very special planned this year...

I am uncertain of this beanie's origin. At first I thought this bear might be a charity promotion. However, promotional beanies often come with a special hang tag and/or commemorative card. If anyone can provide more information about this collectible, please send me an email. I will share your message with others.

Riggins Coming Soon

 After I posted an email from Kellie in New Jersey on the whereabouts of Riggins (see my September 24, 2007 column), I received two follow-up messages, one from Sue in Maine, the other from Ma-li-a in New Hampshire.
Sue wrote to Ty Store on Monday, September 23, 2007 about her Beanie Baby of the Month order and received the following response from Ty Store Customer Service the following day:
Hi Susan,
Your September Beanie Baby of the Month orders #24812###-# and 23880###-# are acknowledged and have not shipped.
While we will make every effort to ship within the first two weeks of every month, we cannot guarantee orders will not be shipped in the later half of the month. You will receive an e-mail confirmation once the merchandise has left our fulfillment center. Charges will be applied each month when the merchandise ships.
Although Ty Store's response seem discouraging, there is good news for some collectors. Ma-li-a shares that her order will be arriving soon. She sent the following message to me yesterday:
Just a note to let the readers know my charge card has been charged for the new BBOT for September and a confirmation saying it has shipped.
So if your credit card has not yet been charged for Riggins, be sure to check it in the days ahead... Hopefully, this cute puppy will be arriving sooner than later!

Update on Harrods' Launch of Exclusive Bears

In my September 20, 2007 column, I reported that, according to Beanie UK, Harrods had delayed the launch of its exclusive Ty bears by one week. The new launch date will be November 10, 2007 ( click here ). I wrote to Harrods about the delay. Here is their response:
Originally the date was set for the 3 of November. However because of security concerns the date was changed. This was because the Harrods' Toy Department thought it would be better to separate the launch from the Christmas parade, to minimise the traffic flow through the department.
However the proposed date change has caused an enormous outcry and Harrods' is currently deciding which date it will proceed with. This means I can not yet give you an official date...
So it appears that the official launch date could possibly revert back to November 3rd. Or it may stay the same (that is, November 10, 2007). We'll just have to wait and see....
